Yep, they’re back and Darlo’s pulling out all stops to support the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation in the event.
On Saturday 3rd October many of the local Darlo shops have pledged a portion of their sales to BGF (Australia’s Longest Running HIV charity). Many of the venues on the street are putting on events throughout the day, shops will be trading out the front of their premises and more stuff is sure to fall out of the mix before then.

On behalf of the Darlinghurst Business Partnership Redkite Agency has launched a media famil programme inviting journalists to stay in the area and enjoy a Darlinghurst experience. The programme kicked off with the distribution of a detailed media release outlining Darlinghurst’s fabulous food, arts, design and shopping. Interest has been secured from top tier media and we recently hosted Arrivals and Departures Magazine in the area, so look out for the Darlinghurst feature in the next edition. Over the coming months we will be hosting more journalists so keep an eye out for articles about Darlinghurst and if you are interested in becoming involved in the programme please let the Darlinghurst Business Partnership know.

At next Monday’s Council Committee meetings there is going to be discussion on the Bourke St Cycleway that has been proposed as part of the Sustainable Sydney 2030 Plan.
We encourage people to have a look as this will be one of the only chances to comment prior to Council passing judgement on what will actually happen.

Hey There.
It’s with great pleasure that we invite you to the Darlinghurst Business Partnership Christmas Party with a twist.
We know you are bored with the usual meetings, because we are too, so we a going to kill a few birds with one stone.
The main focus of our evening will be to drink, eat some awesome nibblies, drink some more and have a bit of a chin wag.
The twist we mentioned is that we have invited some important guests to answer your questions.
Superintendent Donna Adney of the Surry Hills Police Command has already accepted our invitation. As this email goes out we are waiting on responses from no less than
City of Sydney CEO – Monica Barone
Director of Council Property Dept. – John Payne
City of Sydney Manager of Economic Development – Shawn Day
There will be a short, formal question and answer session and we’d like to know from you before hand what is on your mind, so we can give our guests a chance to think about their answers. Please email us with your questions/thoughts.
There will also be an amount of time for questions from the floor.
All businesses, residents, resident’s groups, council employees, elected officials and other interested parties are welcome so please forward this email to people active within the community,
A printed flier will be coming out within the next week but we are just waiting on confirmation from the invited speakers.
RSVP would be great (so we can get the bar tab right) – stephan (at) therecordstore.com.au

The local Darlinghurst business group has created a new website in aid of Lower Oxford Street. This site will highlight the problems caused by the recent $24 million upgrade of Oxford Street, which basically created a six lane highway through the middle of a main road shopping precinct.
While the site is being built, we can tell you here that we will be focusing on the fact that everything that happens to Oxford Street seems planned to cut Darlinghurst in half.
What should be the backbone of an awesome inner city area, is being treated like a border; in between two police commands, two suburbs and two local government Local Area Plans. The RTA shunts huge volumes of traffic down Oxford Street, when the whole point of the ’slightly overpriced’ Cross City Tunnel was to take traffic off the roads. Frank Sartor’s council brilliantly planned to turn William Street into a Boulevard while fogetting that they already had one that was not a wind tunnel, got lots of sun and actually had 600+ businesses thriving around it.
Anyway, you get the drift – stay tuned.
